It is a sad fact of life that domestic abuse often features in relationships, with as many as 2 million adults experiencing some form of abuse within a 12 month period.
The Family Court is able to make orders dealing with domestic violence within relationships, often on an emergency basis to protect potential victims from harm at the hands of their former partner.
These orders (called non molestation orders or injunctions) will prevent an abusive partner from using or threatening violence, and in some circumstances can ensure that the alleged abuser does not come within a certain radius of the family home.
We have a specialist domestic violence team of qualified solicitors Birmingham who are highly experienced at applying to the Court for such orders, usually at very short notice. Legal Aid is often available to help fund these applications.

Breaching a non molestation order is now an arrestable offence with the police so the consequences of any further domestic abuse can be very serious. It is very important to have legal advice when served with a non molestation order. We have acted for people who have found themselves the subject of non molestation orders who have found it harder to gain employment, and who have struggled in establishing contact with their children.
