Oliver Dedrick Hunte

Legal Assistant, Birmingham

I knew I wanted to work in law ever since my form tutor in year 8 told me I would be a good lawyer when I argued that another teacher was more focused on their pay cheque, rather than the futures of the children they were teaching. I was a teenager with a chip on my shoulder. Always observant to social injustices and inequality. I grew up in a single-parent household as an only child and I lived in an area that would be described as impoverished and lacked opportunities.

Before I joined Greens Solicitors as a Legal Assistant in September 2023, I started my legal career in a commercial law firm in Leicester, back in 2017. I instantly knew that I wasn’t interested in the glitz and glamour of commercial law. I wanted to truly help people and I felt that I couldn’t do that in commercial law. Since 2017, I have worked in several areas of law including civil litigation, employment law and family law. I started working in public family law from 2022 and knew this was the area of law that I wanted to practice.

I am now part of the public family law department in Greens and mainly deal with care proceedings. I absolutely love working in public family law as I find the work purposeful and rewarding. It’s not just a job that pays the bills. My ambition is to qualify as a solicitor and continue my career in the legal profession.
