Stress Awareness Month | 1 April – 30 April
Stress Awareness Month is observed every April to raise awareness about the causes, effects, and management of stress. It has been recognised since 1992 and is an opportunity for individuals and organisations to promote mental health, self-care, and stress-relief strategies.
Why It Matters
• Stress can negatively impact both physical and mental health, leading to issues such as anxiety, depression, heart disease, and weakened immune function.
• Chronic stress can affect work productivity, relationships, and overall well-being.
• Raising awareness encourages people to seek support and adopt healthier coping mechanisms.
Ways to Participate
1. Practice Self-Care – Engage in activities that promote relaxation, such as meditation, exercise, journaling, or deep breathing.
2. Educate Yourself and Others – Learn about stress management techniques and share resources.
3. Workplace Wellness – Employers can organise wellness programs, offer mental health support, and encourage work-life balance.
4. Limit Stressors – Identify and minimise sources of stress, whether in your personal life or at work.
5. Seek Support – Talk to a friend, family member, or therapist if stress becomes overwhelming.
