Running

by Lindsey Foster

Last year, I started running at the gym as a form of weight loss. At first, I found it difficult and I could only manage 5 minutes continuous running on the treadmill. I increased my gym session to 4 per week and, slowly, I built up the endurance to last 30 minutes. Although not quite a marathon, this was a fantastic achievement for me!

Lockdown restrictions prevented me from running in the gym. However, I have recently moved to a new city and hope to get back to my training. I prefer running on a treadmill rather than outdoors as it helps me maintain a pace; something I struggle to do independently. That said, my current goal is to complete a half marathon in the next few years. To help with my training, and learn to independently maintain a pace, I intend to join a local running club.
