Paws up, we’re ready... or maybe not!

As a firm, Greens has supported many charities, including, Show Racism the Red Card (anti-racism), Wear it Pink (breast cancer), Alzheimer’s Society (dementia), Macmillan Cancer Support (supporting people living with cancer) and The Birmingham Legal Walk (raising money for local advice services) and everyone here has willingly been involved.

This month I signed up for ‘Walk 60 miles in June with your dog for Cancer Research UK’ as my first individual fundraiser. Like most of us, this awful and often devastating disease has affected me, my family and friends personally. I have two dogs to walk anyway, Tilly, a two year old Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross and Robert, a one year old Chihuahua, the bonus is I can raise awareness and hopefully raise funds whilst out walking.

I confess I made a unilateral decision to involve all three of us. When I first mentioned the event to Tilly and Robert, it seemed to be met with enthusiasm, lots of jumping and tail wagging, however, after a period of reflection these are the comments I have provided with:

“60 miles ……. We only have little legs”
“We won’t go if it’s raining”
“It’s too cold, let’s just snuggle on the sofa”
“We don’t have enough time, it’s mandatory for us to stop every 3 paces for sniffing and treats”
“Can’t we go stick hunting or ball chasing instead?”
and my personal favourite “Why don’t we just walk to the pub?”

Despite such resistance, I remain determined. I know we will all enjoy it and I’m proud to be supporting such a worthy cause.
If anyone is interested, I hope to post daily updates in June and you can follow our progress on Instagram tilly_and_robert. For anyone generous enough to wish to make a donation this can be done via Facebook:
