National Fitness Day
National Fitness Day falls on Wednesday 24th September. Every year, National Fitness Day shines a spotlight on the importance of physical activity and its impact on our overall health and well-being. Whether you already exercise regularly, or are someone just starting their fitness journey, this day serves as a great reminder of the importance of moving our bodies.
The goal of National Finess day is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to get active in whatever way suits them best. This can be from gym classes and running clubs, to yoga sessions and team sports. Whatever way you are able to find joy and passion in exercising.
It also serves as a chance for communities, schools and workplaces to come together and promote healthy habits. Many local gyms and fitness centres offer free classes, making it a fantastic opportunity to try something new without any pressure. Just think, you may just find the thing that really works for you! This time last year I tried running for the first time by joining a running club. Now I have ran two half marathons, and am training for my first marathon next year. I never thought exercising was something I could be passionate about. Turns out I just needed to find the right fit for me!
Beyond just the day and events themselves, National Fitness Day is about taking small, sustainable steps toward a healthier lifestyle. It is so easy when you work in a setting such as an office to forget about exercise. But even just a 30-minute walk or a quick stretch break can do wonders to improve your mood, give you an energy boost and reduce stress.
So, whether you’re lacing up your running shoes for your fifth marathon, doing a dance workout in your living room, or simply taking the stairs instead of the lift – you are celebrating National Fitness Day in the best way possible for you!
