Family Mediation Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of family mediation and of the benefits it can bring to separating families.

Family Mediation Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of family mediation and of the benefits it can bring to separating families. The aim is to let more people know about the benefits of family mediation and encourage separating couples to think about family mediation as a way of helping them take control, make decisions together and build a positive future for their family.

Mediation is a viable, cost effective way of avoiding acrimonious court proceedings and an option which has the full support of both the Ministry of Justice and the courts.

Separating couples face many challenges and uncertainties, including:

  •  Who lives where?
  • Where will the children live and how will they make sure each parent spends time with them?
  • How will finances be sorted?
  • What about debts, pensions and maintenance?

These are all matters regularly discussed in mediation, with the majority of cases reaching successful outcomes and avoiding the stress, delay and cost of the court process.

Mediation also offers separating couples information about their options and enables them to create solutions based on their particular circumstances, rather than having the court make the decisions for them.

Greens Family Mediation Services is taking part in the Ministry of Justice’s Family Mediation Voucher Scheme, which is non means tested and meets up to £500 of mediation costs for families discussing arrangements for children. We also offer Legal Aid for both child and property/financial mediation.
