Dry January, Couch to 5K, and Keeping Promises to Myself

On January 1, I started Dry January and Couch to 5K.

Both sounded simple. Both have been harder than expected, and more rewarding too.
Saying no to alcohol has created space: better sleep, clearer mornings, and more intentional
time. Couch to 5K has reminded me what it feels like to be a beginner again, progress that’s
slow, unglamorous, and earned one run at a time. However, I feel energised when I finish.
What I’m relearning is this: confidence comes from consistency. Not big wins, not motivation,
but quietly showing up even when it would be easier not to.

It’s early in the year, but I’m grateful for the reset, and for the reminder that momentum is built,
not found.
