The Great Office Bake Off

On Thursday, our team swapped spreadsheets for spatulas and hosted our very own Office Bake Off—a deliciously fun event that brought out everyone’s inner baker!

Why Host an Office Bake Off?

An office bake off isn’t just about cake (though, let’s be honest, cake is a big part of it). It’s about:

  • Team bonding: Baking together breaks down barriers and sparks new conversations.
  • Creativity: From classic brownies to experimental cupcakes, everyone gets to show off their unique flair.
  • A little friendly competition: Who doesn’t love a bit of rivalry—especially when the prize is bragging rights (and maybe half a day of annual leave)?

How We Did It

  1. We invited everyone to participate
  2. On the big day, one of the meeting rooms transformed into a pop-up bakery, with tables groaning under the weight of the cakes.
  3. Each treat was sampled and scored on taste and presentation.
  4. The  winners earned themselves half a day of annual leave….. but everyone left with a full stomach.

The Results

The Judges were spoilt for choice and were unable to pick just two winners.

1st place: in joint first place was Anaa with her Biscoff Cheesecake and Sophie Godfrey with her Carrot Cake

2nd place: Grant with his selection of Bread Puddings

3rd place: Di with her orange flavoured cupcakes

Honourable mentions:

Faizan earned an honourable mention with his ‘death cake’ as well as Donna and Savannah with their different approaches to a Lemon Cake

Tips for Your Own Bake Off

  • Keep it inclusive: Encourage gluten-free, vegan, and allergy-friendly options.
  • Make it fun: don’t take yourself too seriously, it’s all for a good cause!

The real winner of our bake off wasn’t just the person with the best cake—it was the sense of camaraderie that filled the office.

In a world of deadlines and meetings, a little sugar and a lot of laughter go a long way.
