26-mile Trek for Alzheimer’s Society – COMPLETED!

As some of you may have read from the blog post on 19 April 2021, we were looking for sponsors for Team Jeff who were completing the 26 Mile trek over Brecon Beacons to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s society and all the vital research they are doing to help combat this disease. We are proud to say that this walk was completed on Sunday 5 September 2021.

It was an early start to the day, getting to the starting line at 7:00am in the morning to start the 26 miles. The route took us from Brecon Show Ground, walking to the peak of Pen y Fan, along and down to Blaen Y Glyn then round to Talybont-on-Usk and back to Brecon Show Ground where the walk finished. Team Jeff managed to complete the trek in a time of 10 hours, finishing at 17:00 on the evening. As a team we were great in motivating each other and pushing each other to finish, despite the blisters, cuts, bruises and injured feet and knees. We are all so proud of the effort we made which was made so much more rewarding from all the kind donations from everyone that supported us.

It was a truly challenging but rewarding experience and we thank everyone for their kind donations. As a team we managed to raise a little over £2000 for Alzheimer’s, contributing to the staggering £750,000 raised from the event as a whole.

As stated in the blog post from April, this is a cause which is close to our hearts as my father was diagnosed with early onset Dementia around 15 years ago. Therefore, all the donations that we have received we are all truly grateful for as this will allow the society to conduct further research and get one step closer to finding a cure to this disease which impacts so many other people.

Just to prove that we completed the walk Team Jeff wanted to show some photos of the day.
