Experience Years:

Qualified 2011

I started my career in law by studying a law degree at Staffordshire University, part-time in the evenings, whilst working full time and looking after a young family. I completed the legal practice course at Staffordshire University, again part time in the evenings, due to work commitments and I was awarded the outstanding achievement award for the part time course.

After I had finished studying to become a solicitor I worked at the citizens advice bureau in Stoke on Trent for a few months until I found a training contract with Clive Shepherd and Co in Walsall. I qualified as a solicitor in September 2011 and since qualifying I have worked within the area of family law, specialising in children law, dealing mainly with public law care proceedings. I have worked in private practice acting for parents and I have worked within 2 different local authority’s as an in-house solicitor. However, I enjoy the variety that working within private practice brings.

I like to keep fit, I enjoy running and I am currently learning self defense, at Defense Lab, which is a modern martial art and is used as the fight sequence in films such as Batman, Jack Reacher and Taken.

I am kept very busy at the weekends by my 2 grandchildren that I have to stay over every Friday night, they certainly keep me on my toes. I like to visit places of interest and I have been a national trust member for a number of years.
