David’s accomplished career, which spans 45 years, saw him enter the legal profession as an office boy before progressing to junior clerk in the civil department.
He has a professional career that includes a wealth of experience in both public and private family law, criminal law, civil law and residential conveyancing. David qualified as a solicitor and set up his own solicitor’s firm, Sheldon Solicitors, dealing with family, crime, civil litigation and probate, before becoming a senior partner.
As a member of the Law Society Children’s Panel as a Children’s representative, acting for Cafcass, an organisation that represents children in family court cases and ensures their voices are heard too, David has also been a parents and other relative’s representative and member of The Children’s Panel, has briefed counsel in Court of Appeal children and criminal matters and has extensive advocacy experience before magistrates, district judges, circuit judges and high court judges.
He has now placed his years of experience in private family law, child welfare and child care, crime, and residential and commercial property law into both Greens Solicitors and Birmingham City Council Legal Services to support families and the local authority with childcare and duty solicitor work.
Having a broad range of legal specialisms and after running a legal practice for many years, and a spell with the Local; Authority Legal Services Department. David is an excellent people person and is able to relate to all people from different, backgrounds, religions and abilities.
